Who is the Holy Spirit?

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was empty, a formless mass cloaked in darkness. And the SPIRIT of God was hovering over its surface.” (Genesis 1:1-2 NLT)

* Jesus revealed His own identity to His disciples in John 14:16-17:

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world at large cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you do, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.” (NLT)

The one who lives with Jesus’ disciples and later will be in their hearts (minds) is no other but Jesus Himself. The Resurrected Jesus (Jesus now) is also the Holy Spirit.

* In John 4:24, we learned that God is a Spirit. Holy Spirit is God. There is only ONE GOD. God can act either singly or plurally. Unlike a body of flesh and blood, a spirit can live inside the heart (the mind) of a person. The Resurrected Jesus can live inside the hearts of His true believers.

* The real father of Jesus is the Holy Spirit, not Joseph (see Matthew 1:18-21)

* Paul explained about the Holy Spirit and God’s temple to the church members in Corinth:

“Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16 NLT)

“Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God?” (1 Corinthians 6:19 NLT)

* God created everything by His Words through His Spirit (see Genesis 1 and 2). Based on the explanations in John 1:1-3 – Jesus is the Word of God – and in John 6:63 – Jesus is the Spirit and the Life.

* In John 6:38, Jesus said: “I have come down from heaven …… “. (NLT)

* In John 3: 13, Jesus said: “No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven..” (NKJV)

* In Revelation 1:17-18, The Resurrected Jesus said: “I am the First and the Last. I am the living one WHO DIED. Look, I am alive forever and ever!” (NLT)

* In Revelation 22:12, the Resurrected Jesus said: “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” (NLT)

Without the presence of the Holy Spirit in the hearts of man, no man can defeat Satan (the Devil). Without defeating Satan, man cannot be made HOLY. Without being holy, man cannot see God.

It is the Holy Spirit who gives Life – the ETERNAL LIFE (John 6:63). And, Jesus is the WAY to Heaven (John 14:6). He is also the Resurrection and the Life. (John 11:25)

Jesus was a person (lived in this world for 33 years as a 100% man).

And, Jesus is GOD at all times. Amen!
