A Preacher's Testimony

Dear John,

Thank you for your explanations in your previous email. I wish to share with you what happened yesterday afternoon.

There was a man whom I had known for over a year. I met him while playing an online computer game. He is a college student living in California. I don’t even know his real name. He is of Chinese/Japanese descent. Like my own parents, he is also a firm believer of Chinese mythical gods and a despiser of Christian faith. I tried to witness to him once but without success. I gave up because I thought I couldn’t do it since he had absorbed so much lies from Satan.

I started by telling him about the long life/immortality herbs desired by Emperor Chuan (the Emperor who built the Great Wall and made thousands of stone warriors buried in Shanxi Province in China and the same emperor who sent three thousand young man and three thousand young ladies to Fu Song – today’s Japan to collect the everlasting herb for him so that he could live forever about 2,600 years ago). I told him that I have found the person who possess this herb. And this person has been giving it out for free without cost to everyone who wants it. Outraged by what I had just said, he asked: “Why is it free? It didn’t make any sense!” He started to take what I said very seriously! So I explained that this herb is too costly and it was priceless that no one could afford to buy. But out of love he is giving it out for free!

Then he started saying how he didn’t want to live forever. Taking into account for the many problems humanity faces in life. Also reasoning that it is very natural for all living beings to die. He confessed that once he tried to end his own life. So I agreed with him that he should die instead. I even kept on insisting that all those who are better than him must also die, so he too should die all the more!

At this point he began to change his mind. He wanted to live for a longer life instead. He told me about those people he cared about in his life including his girlfriend. He assured me that he won’t be dying so soon. He had a feeling that he would survive. But I gave him no mercy. I kept the pressure on him to the maximum with only one goal in mind. I exclaimed that those who had a feeling they would survive is now dead either by accidents or sickness. How long did he think he would live? What chance did he have?

He finally caved! This is what he told me: “I’d like to meet this person. I’d like to sit down and have a conversation with this man.”

Then, I asked him, “Don’t you know this man?” “You have heard of him!” “Yet you tried to deny him!” He kept insisting he didn’t know who I was talking about.

At this point I had become softened up and I asked him if he would let me tell him a story. This is what I told him: “Once there was a man who had been for 4,000 years continually and consistently announcing his coming to his people. When he finally arrived among his people, none of his own people could recognize him! All day long he went around telling his people how to get this everlasting life. But most of his own people did not believe him! All he did was good and he went around healing the sick. All those sick people brought to him were all healed. But there were so many people of his own hated him so much and tried to kill him. Though he never did anything wrong, he was arrested. And they tortured him. They paraded him as if he was a criminal and finally killed him. But he proved what he told them was true because after 3 days he came back to life again!”

At this point he knew whom I was referring to. “That’s Jesus you were talking about.”

Then I explained that this was the same one who made the earth, the universe and everything in it. He believed my testimony! I told him that he loves us so much that not only he had given us his own life for our sins but he can also help us to get rid of all our problems. In addition, he created the only way for us to join him one day with everlasting life. This is the Unique Way for man to have everlasting life. There is no other way. He alone has the power to make things happen in our life! I told him to get rid of his useless idols, not to believe in any stupid superstitions and fortune tellers. I told him that whenever he encountered problems, he can ask for help from the Father in the name of Jesus – totally free-of-charge.

So he agreed. Glory to the One who died but lives forever more! Amen.
